Cranberries
Lyrics
The lyrics and the melodies were almost
always written by Dolores O'Riordan, often with the help of
Noel Hogan. Musically seen the band recorded a relatively wide
range between pop, rock and Irish folk. Initially the style was
rather soft rock such as in Dreams, later it was harder for
example for Zombie and career ended against the slope slightly
in the direction of pop, such as in analysis.
The lyrics often act of love, relationship
or separation, but also of war and misery. For example, in the
Northern Ireland Zombie conflict with the Easter uprising in
Bosnia and the Balkan conflict discussed. A few songs are also
certain people or places dedicated to: The song Yeats' Grave,
the story of the Irish poet William Butler Yeats and the Isle
of Innisfree, the title of one of his poems appeared. I Just
Shot John Lennon covers the murder of the Beatles member John
Lennon. The piece of New New York is about the terrorist attack
on the World Trade Center on 11 September 2001 and Cape Town
has as a theme the South African city of Cape Town.
The Cranberries covert some titles,
including They Long To Be (Close to You) by Burt Bacharach /
Hal David, Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac, In the Ghetto by
Mac Davis and the unreleased song Crazy by Patsy Cline.
