The fact that a happy family life, negative
impact on activities previously exercised may have been
recently made by Mika Häkkinen and his retirement from Formula
1 once again demonstrated. One case, which is also in the
musical field can be easily found, just think of untold John
Lennon's "Double Fantasy."
Or the Cranberries, whose members have for some time do not
miss the opportunity to reiterate how happy they all are. "I
guess family and friends are the essential key to happiness,"
proclaims trademark Dolores O'Riordan in her "personal touch"
at the end of the booklets on the new record "Wake Up And Smell
The Coffee".
The fact that after such a sign quite decent
work is made is testimony to the quality of a band, while
musically limited capabilities, but since almost ten years of
successful products with a certain claim presented.
The commitment by Stephen Street has the
Cranberries, in any case well done. Back to the beginnings
produced by him, away from the precarious sülzig to last two
albums. From the sound coming from you might say, again in 1993
to be as the band with "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can
not We" enchanted.
Unfortunately, it is neither Street nor the
band managed to pinch the necessary originality involved with.
The beginning of the single "analysis" reminds too much of
"Linger," "This Is The Day" too close to "Zombie." Although
alternate quiet moments with faster and thus ensure a degree of
variety. "Time Is Ticking Out" begins precisely with the
ticking of a clock, "The Concept" even with a looped piano
(with scratches, like what was heard), "Never Grow Old" is a
successful ballad, while "I Really Hope" live even Pogo could
inspire. In addition, O'Riordan yowl her, at least since the
Bell, Book & Candle mightily on the nerves went, as well as
stored.
However, missing "Wake Up And Smell Coffee"
thing: the setting of the start times. The celebrated subjects
have not necessarily changed, it's about love, relationships,
injustice, difficult life situations. The anger, the sadness
and the sensuality of the once self-consciousness but by
success and family happiness diminished, which from the
perspective of the listener is clearly a loss.
Sure, it would be stupid to require that you
far beyond puberty also pieces such as "Zombie" or "Linger",
and argues fervently. The times are changing for all. But that
is the difference between a great and a good band: The first
musical also develops new skills, and the second is mainly
because of their old hits, and purchased.
